So true! I think deep immersion into other cultures and slow travel where one really gets to live like a native and connect deeply to the local community is particularly important in having the biggest impact.

We have been traveling the world non-stop since 2006 and it has had a huge, positive impact on all of us. It’s been the best possible education for our child to really understand the world first hand & immerse deeply in 3 languages.

When you know a language and their literature, you know a culture. Today it is easier & cheaper than ever to live and school ANY where & as more people jump on this fast growing trend, it is a vehicle for many towards more personal freedom and global understanding that supports world peace!

I’m glad you agreed with the article, I feel when we travel its the things that are hardest to describe and hardest to have others understand that change us the most. Like you said it has to be experienced first hand!

Nail on the head, Andy. I’ve had the same experience. It’s a gift I wish I could give to others, but it cannot be given away, it must be experienced. Everyone who is able should take a year off and travel. It would make this a better world.
