Nice list, and as you say there are plenty of other great food places.

The better pancake experiences are generally out of town along the coast, but I found Pannenkoekenhuis Upstairs (right in the centre at Grimburgwal 2) a very unique pancake restaurant, although its opening hours are quite restricted (Fri, Sat&Sun only) and it is very small!

I've also had an excellent Italian at another small restaurant - Koevoet, Lindenstraat 17 - well off the tourist trail.
Finally, near the station, but still very good is the Malaysian restaurant Wau on Zeedijk 35.
Enjoy.

[...] This gorgeous shot shows off why so many people want to visit Amsterdam – it is a gorgeous city. The only way to get around town is by bike, so be brave and just do it . Because of theft, the cool bicycles are either so elaborately decorated they’re ugly or they’re simply old rickety cruisers (called ‘oma fiets’, or grandma bikes) . It’s first on our bikes around the world list because, well, there are more bikes than people in this town! (Tip: It’s also a great way to explore all of the best food in Amsterdam.) [...]

I have only visited Holland once...15 years ago. I love your pic of whipped cream. Whenever I travel I always have a difficult time getting coffee with cream or whipped cream. Great blog! I love Indian food. The best Indian food I ever tasted (different spices from those used in Canada) was in Holland. Honest! Thanks.

Andy, great list! I'm stumbling this for a future trip to Amsterdam. You've really changed my mind about Amsterdam being a foodie destination.
