Inspiring Travel Monthly Roundup – Christmas Edition
Hard to believe it’s our last inspiring travel monthly roundup for 2009! It’s been a great year here at STE with tons of great folk coming through via the roundup. We close out the year on a strong note; there’s plenty of surprises and a few wee presents for you below. This month’s theme? Photography, it seems. Some killer photographs in nearly every link.
| We start off this month visiting our good friend Shannon on her post on a wee bit of Irish hospitality. Ireland is renounced for its warmth and friendliness, so be sure check out Shannon’s take on it.
| Christian Carollo takes us to Pennsylvania this month for a photo tour of their scarecrow festival. The scarecrows are SO cute!!! Love the photos – thanks for Charing, Christian.
| Amy and the Q Family are back with us this month with everything you need to know about the Disney Animal Kingdom. Lots of great tips – check it out if you’re headed that way anytime soon. Oh, and be sure to check out our family-friendly travel deals, as the Disney properties come up quite often (and usually at a massive discount for us) – and there’s a Disney deal this month, in fact!
| Kallen wrote in this month to tell us an interesting story about Japanese Shinto. He has a real way with words, so I won’t spoilt it. Just read and enjoy.
| While it’s kind of hard to read (small font, white on black), this is a great article at the e-man cave about Niagra Falls & the surrounding area. Some really gorgeous photos from that part of the world. This is actually an area I plan on visiting next summer, so very good info!
| Kristie gave us an insider view with her fun video on riding a cablecar in San Francisco. Sure, it is a very touristy thing to do, but it is one of the many charms of this great American city. Thanks for the video, Kristie.
| Jay suggests a way to see as many sights as possible in one day in Amsterdam. As this is my former home, I’d like to think I know it pretty well.
| Nathan sent us in some great photos from his mini photo tour of Victoria Island in British Columbia. I really liked these photos because they take on a distict perspective on the things tourist often overlook in the rush to the next monument/attraction/destination.
| Marcus from MyGermanCity wrote in to suggest a few ways for us to reflect and celebrate the fall of the Berlin Wall. Sounds like a damn good idea to me – and he has some links to a few great photo collections. |
| Rob rounds up some great information to highlight the thriving arts scene in Asheville, North Caroline. If you happen to be passing through – don’t miss this article. Rob has also included some interesting tidbits on the history of art in the region. Kind of fascinating, even if you’re not into that kind of stuff.
| Psych Syke gets up-close-and-personal with some of the wildlife in Panama City. This is one of those posts you have to do a double-take and then read it. As Panama was one of the destinations highlighted in our location independent travel guides, you might want to check this post out before you pack up and move.
| Devin shares with us his most adventurous day in Thailand. From being chased by monkeys to downing shots in a bar with a boxing ring, it was a long day, needless to say.
| I LOVED this article from Suzane so gives us theh scoop on 20 great museums you’ve never heard of. I only had heard of one, but haven’t been to any of them and they all sound fascinating. All art lovers, check it out!
| Joe dropped us a note this month to share with us some of his best tips for camping. A short but sweet list – check it out before you head for the wild outdoors.

Thanks for another great round-up. I must remember to actually send you something this month (I have a post in mind already…).
