Andy Hayes, that travel guyA Word From Andy
January 17th, 2012 | Happy 2012!

Hey there!

I hope that you’ve gotten a great start to the new year – I know I have. I love the renewed sense of purpose that a bit of downtime and inward reflection brings over the holidays.

If you’ve been thinking about your new year travels, I’d love for you to share your thoughts on what you’d like to see us do in 2012? I’ve gotten some great article suggestions and looking forward to hearing yours.

Also I’d like to welcome Sarah Salter to the team – Sarah has guest posted for us before, and she’ll be taking up the reins as assistant editor. Welcome aboard Sarah!

All the best in 2012,
Andy

Super Specials2012 Travel Planning

While you’re planning ahead, enjoy one of these winter-themed cocktails.

Greetings from Sheri, your STE travel concierge. Here in Seattle, we are deep in the throes of winter—it’s snowing as I’m writing this, in fact. So what better time to start planning a cruise for this summer, so you can dream about it during these dark winter days?

When I think “summer cruise”, I think ALASKA! There are tons of options, ranging from intimate small ships focusing on outdoor activities like sea kayaking, to big ships with all the bells and whistles. Did you know Disney is going to be cruising from Seattle this summer? They are a great addition to the 7 day round trip cruises from Seattle offered by Celebrity, Holland America, Royal Caribbean, Princess, Norwegian and Carnival.

If you’d like to see some of Alaska’s interior, such as Denali National Park, we can help you put together a great pre-cruise trip in Alaska (especially if you don’t want to do the bus tours most of the cruise lines offer), followed by a southbound cruise from the Anchorage area to Vancouver. Options for this include Holland America, Princess, Royal Caribbean, and the high end all-inclusive lines, Regent and Silversea.

While there are quite a few ship choices this year, the season is fairly short (mid-May to early September) and I am starting to see some popular dates fill up, so now is the time to make your plans.

Of course there are other great summer cruise destinations. Drop me a line and I’ll help you decide which itinerary and which ship is going to be the best fit for you.
