Wow! I wish I had the dough to stay at those places in Zanzibar, beautiful. I did love my time there anyway. I can't believe we spent a month in Tanzania and didn't go on safari! We climbed Kilimanjaro and cycled through it instead, but I really want to go back and experience a safari in Tanzania one day soon.
And I agree with Rob, Safaris when run properly (like many I saw in Africa) are very beneficial. When people see that others want to observe wildlife rather than shoot wildlife, great efforts are made for conservation.

In answer to JoAnna, in my opinion, controlled, well run safaris are a huge benefit to the environment. They allow people to see the wildlife in their natural environment and you can really appreciate it for what it is. By educating people to understand wildlife can only be a positive thing when it comes to tackling issues like poaching.

Sounds lovely! Would love to go on a safari someday, but have to admit I'm a little concerned about the environmental implications. Nonetheless, this definitely sounds like something I'd like to do.
