Looking for some inspiration and a deal too?

Some days you want to travel and don’t have a specific destination in mind. Maybe you just are interested in getting away to somewhere offering a great experience at a good deal and open-minded on the destination?

Cheap isn’t good enough. Amazing is.

Hand Picked Super Specials Our travel deals are hand-picked every month, and we look for deals and steals that aren’t just cheap – they have to be amazing experiences worth the effort.

Cheap isn’t good enough. We won’t let you spare any hard earned cash on a travel experience just because it’s inexpensive.

How It Works

Considering booking a super special? Here’s how the process works:

  1. You can fill out our Dream It, Do It request form to start off the process. There are several questions, but to make sure we fully understand what you’re looking for, we need that information. It should only take 5 minutes to fill out the form; that’s far less time than it takes canvassing websites for a travel deal! Be sure to mention which super special you’re requesting in the comments!
  2. Donna will receive your request and confirm availability and pricing of the special. If you’re happy with initial arrangements, you’ll place a small deposit to confirm your reservation and booking.
  3. Donna will make provisional bookings and work with you one-on-one to tweak your itinerary so it’s perfect. Final bookings and your payment will be made once you’re happy with all the arrangements.
  4. To confirm everything is ready to go, Donna will send you a “Know Before You Go” information pack which includes:
      • your travel booking details
      • destination information (including currency, safety, cultural do’s and don’ts)
      • shopping, food & beverage suggestions
      • a mini-travel guide to help you find other things you might want to see and do while you’re away
  5. You pack your bags and head off for your super special holiday!

In some cases, we’ve negotiated bulk discounts with our suppliers, so availability is limited. What this means: if you see something you’re interested in, be sure to book ASAP. We reserve the right to withdraw super specials when capacity limits have been reached.

FYI, if you need it, there’s a currency converter at the bottom of the page.

Sounds Good. Now where are those specials?!

Super specials are organised by the experience type.  Specials were last updated Monday, February 8th, 2010.

Family-Friendly

When you leave home does Fido or Fluffy get sent to a sitter or the vet for “housing” (translation—stuck in a cage)? Is that a whole family vacation? For international travel there isn’t any option, but there are plenty of domestic hotels that offer special deals for four-legged guests. Our favorites are the Kimpton Hotels with lots of wonderful amenities for the special members of your family. Contact us for a copy of “Preparing Pets for Everyone’s Vacation.”

Food/Culinary

It is still winter in a lot of places, so why not explore all the culinary adventures in sunny Mexico. The Playa del Carmen area is well-known for fabulous all-inclusive resorts, less well known for the new Culinary Center with interactive cooking experiences in a facility overlooking the Caribbean. Contact us to arrange this unique experience for you.

History/Culture

This is the perfect year to visit remote Japan. Nara, the ancient many regard as the birthplace of Japan, is celebrating its 1300th anniversary. Our Travel Concierge still remembers the ancient wooden Buddha and the delightfully tame Nara deer. Nara is accessible from Kyoto, the place of wondrous temples and incredible history. There are many amazing sites, and Japan, once horrendously expensive for many, has become more affordable. Contact us for the latest options.

Luxury

If Paris is the definition of sophisticated France, Bordeaux is the elegant country cousin. And what elegance it has to offer! After 6 years of renovation combining eight historic buildings, the Regent Grand Hotel Bordeaux is stepping back into 18th century opulence. The décor and decorations are designed to match the 1776 opera house across the street. In fact, the Royal Suite has a 1,000 ft balcony with an incredible view of the opera house. Most rooms include a beautiful wine bar, perhaps serviced by a private sommelier. Of course, in amidst the yards of rich velvet fabrics, rooms have an ipod docking station and free internet access. The best of both worlds. Contact us and we’ll make the arrangements.

Romance

It’s Valentine’s Day! The Definition of Romance! The Travel Concierge can’t pick a favorite; this requires a list of options. Of course we have enticements to experience Tahiti, or Bali, or Fiji. But there are special interludes in places like New York where you can sail down a barge listening to Schubert or Mozart, or in Seattle where the Hotel Monaco has its Little Bit of Lovin’ package that include a cooking class for couples. On the subject of food, one of my favorites’s for Valentine’s Day is Hershey PA. There you have the perfect combination—romance and chocolate, and several vacation packages.

For the ultimate Valentine’s Day getaway, consider Ponto Dos Ganchos, a secluded beach on a private peninsula in Brazil. Special packages are designed just for romantic couples. Contact us for more information.

Whatever your choice, enjoy.

Sailing/Cruises

Everyone wants to celebrate the most romantic holiday of the year and since cruising is often considered a romantic way to travel, what would be better than a Romance Cruise Summit? For more information about the onboard celebrities and festivities, and to book your special cabin, contact us. This is going to be a unique experience.

When the spa treatments are finished, the indulgences can continue with chocolate cooking classes, exploration of historic Hershey, or just relaxing in the old-world elegant Hershey Hotel. Theatre

As a confirmed music love, the Travel Concierge always seeks out performances when traveling. One of the most delightful ways to find good music and theatre is on a river cruise. River cruising is delightful, and there are now a variety of music theme trips to choose from. Contact us for more information and to find the one that best suits you..
