What to do on your airport layover

December 21, 2008by Andy Hayes

Find yourself with an upcoming travel journey that has a nasty, long layover?  Have no fear – WikiAir is here to save the day.  While there are plenty of travel wiki sites, this one has a very specific purpose:

We are not trying to duplicate Wikipedia or Wikitravel, the purpose of this site is different. We would like to see this site become the ultimate web resource for air travelers with a fairly short amount of time in a particular city (ie. a layover).

Thanks to daviddennisphotos.com

There isn’t a great deal of content on the site just yet - for example, a brief check of Amsterdam Schiphol, an airport I know far too well, seems to be focussed on facts you could glean from the Schiphol website, and no tips or tricks – e.g. good places to eat and drink, or suggestions on how much time it would take to pop into the city for some sightseeing.  (Holland Tours provides this service at Schiphol, by the way!)

Seems like a great Wiki to me but it has a long way to go - I’ll be adding in my tips and suggestions, I hope you’ll do the same.

What’s your favourite airport to layover, and why?
