My favorite dessert comes from Thailand.
Kao-Niaow Mamuang, or sticky rice and mangoes.
Warm sticky rice, topped with the most delicious fresh and ripe mangoes, drizzled (or drowned, as I like it) in sweetened condensed milk. Simply amazing. Most Thai restaurants will have a variation of it, but for the absolute best, get yourself to Thailand, to a city called Nakhon Ratchasima (also known as Korat) and find a tiny shop in the basement of The Mall. You shall not regret this adventure :)

well Gulab Jamun is definately the commonest sweets that you will come across India.. But i request the "dessert crazy" people to try out the bengali 'rasgullas','steamed sondes', ' motichoor ke laddu'.... Gulab jamun always comes way down in my list of favourites.. and these things tops the charts.. and yes dont miss the "Mishtidoi" amazing in kolkata

Mmmm, you've made me want hokey pokey ice cream now. Fortunately there's some in the freezer. It's such an institution here that I forget the rest of the world doesn't have it.
Glad to see you're so passionate about our beautiful Aotearoa :)

Yara, that's a good question - I think gelato as more ice-y and ice cream as more, well, cream-y. It's a thin line :)

Shahinda, you had me at "plump warm raisins"!
